Traditional Chinese Acupuncture and CranioSacral Therapy in Merritt Island by Anna Collings

Acupuncture

Acupuncture is a modality that helps the body to heal itself by stimulating the specific points in order to open paths of communication within the meridians of the body. Illness, pain and dysfunction are caused by interruption of the flow of energy within the bodies tissues and when pathways are opened by means of acupuncture, massage, nutrition and/or meditation, there is higher potential for healing.

The body displays symptoms, which relay patterns to the physician by auditory, visual, olfactory information, as well as through the patient's tongue and 12 pulses. The practitioner then uses the examination to assist the pathways and energetic principles of the body in achieving an improved state of equilibrium.

Intake Form

The Acupuncture Physician assesses the patient by pulses, tongue diagnosis and other observations within their practice.  Also important, is the intake form and any representation of history, medications, lifestyle practice and symptoms from hair to toes that can be provided. Symptoms might include time of day, odors, skin or hair condition, emotions, behavior, energy levels, traumas or life changing events.

Pulse

Twelve pulses are assessed by the physician. The speed, quality, rhythm and location are observed.

Tongue

The physician assesses the tongue by texture, color, coating, body moisture content within various locations on the tongue in order to develop a diagnosis of the patient as well.

Five Elements

The five elements that are used in the assessment in combination with all of these patterns are called wood, fire, water, earth and metal. They are also patterned for use in diagnosis of internal and external relationships regarding the patient's health and their relationship with the world they live in.
